Supplemental essays matter.
Schools wouldn’t ask you to write them if they weren’t going to look closely at your
responses! Spend just as much time and effort on them as you do on your personal statement; do not rush while writing your responses, and always proofread before submitting.
Colleges may ask why you want to attend their institution or what you will add to their campus community. When answering these questions, research each college thoroughly and make your response as detailed and specific as possible.
Developing strong supplemental essays requires research about each school, so put in the time to think,
learn, and document why you are interested in each college. Review entire college websites; many have separate websites for each academic program. Whenever possible, connect your academic interests to your high school coursework, research, or completed service projects.
